At lower rps, I believe the 200/225 fuel consumption not much more that the 150hp looper - same year.

At full throttle I believe these burn about 20% more fuel than the 150.

It's true - those motors burn a lot more fuel than the new motors - such as Merc Opti, and Etec.

If you can find one..........the Evinrude 200/225 after Bombardier took over around 2002 were excellent motors, and burned a lot less fuel too......called the DFI's.....

I had an 05' 200 hp ....told it produced more like 215 hp at the prop and it burned about the same or less fuel than my old 150 hp looper.

Still - unless you're going to put heavy mileage on em such as tuna fishing, it's cheaper to run the 225 carb'd than pay $ 16,000 for a new motor.

I found a 2002 225 BRP DI motor....and I love it! (knocking on wood). It burns half the fuel the carbed looper did and runs like a dream. Very percise! Also got that software for the laptop where you can pull codes and run diags.....It still the same old block Basically BRP's 1st gen Etec before they re-rigged and upgraded the injecors and re-branded it. Water cooled EMM . BRP had to sell these with 7 year warranties becasue the OMC name was beat up som much.

I cruise @ 4100 ish going 30mph with a 15x15 Alum BRP prop. WOT is 5800 ish going 40-42mph.

I agree - these are very good motors if you can find one used in proper condition.
My 200hp was strong - made a huge difference vs my older 150 looper. Gained a full 10 mph top end, plus jumped the boat up on plane, and could also plane at lower rpm.
I'd like to put one on my V21' !!! 2002 - 2005 models, yup.
