Your boat looks great! My first boat was a 64' lobster skiff that was the same color so I'm always a little partial to yellow. Love the Bimini. I've been holding out on one but at that price its hard to pass up. I think I'm gonna get one. Thanks for posting.

Well, I know a good idea when I see one, and imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, so I followed Dogbomb's suggestion and ordered one too. Came out great:

Bimini Top
Dogbomb & SailorChlud-
Yes, your bimini tops look good. Here's an idea you can use or discard. On my top which is somewhat similar I replaced the aft straps with SST tubes. I felt this provided a bit more rigidity when someone needs a hand hold to climb from the deck to the dock. There is still some adjustability with the straps on the front. |

Bimini tops tend to be kinda wobbly in the side-to-side direction, but if you adjust the straps to move the main bow aft a little bit, you should be able to rig up some braces off the windshield as show below. The bimini will then be so solid you can hang on to it when walking around on the gunnel to get on the front deck! I've subsequently replaced the screws on the bimini jaw fittings with 1/4" fast pins like I use on the turnbuckles for the VHF antenna brace, so I can quickly lower the bimini. That came in handy on a trip down the St. Johns river when I had to get under a lowered railroad bridge that was going to be down for some time!

and the poles add ridgity and make the top easier to stow. Good stuff. |
