Well, shoot, I "almost" came close to being in the early owner sweepstakes. Got my first ride in a SeaCraft in '78, in a straight inboard Sceptre in the BVI, and it blew me away. Looked real close at a 20' SF that was for sale then, but it didn't work out. It took over 24 more years for me to actually pull the trigger on an 18' SF in '02. Congrats to you long timers!

Terry, I had you beat for w while, until I went and sold my ‘72 Seafari (bought in 1975 from Brown & Hauptner) in 2017 when I started looking for a trawler!

But you have me beat in the marriage department! Pat passed away on me after only about 48.5 years. However Arden has us both beat, the hard way . . . Hubby No. 1 lasted about 35 years, No.2 lasted about 20 years, and we’re now on 3+ years and going strong, but she still walks faster than I do! Denny

Thx Denny, knew you were close to my length of ownership. Also thought about Skip and Carla’s ‘67 bowrider which I think she skied behind when young. But believe it had some non-Moesly ownership in the intervening years

I also realize other owners use their boats more often and more hours per run and more total hours. In eight years with my ETEC I probably have no more than 300 hours. Most runs probably 1.5 hours max. Ten to fifteen minutes to our favorite spot followed by 2-3 slalom or wakeboard runs, then shut down, turn on music, chill out on a noodle with a beverage until the trip back to the ramp. At my age no guests are interested in watersports, but me!😊m

We are in the same boat, darn few freedivers or body surfers left in my age group, maybe I should come to Greenvile and learn to ski.

But, to the thread subject, afraid I'm an intermittent Seacraft addict. Bought my first seafari in 1980. Kept it 10 years then sold so I could take off sailing. Bought a 25 Seafari (happy day) in 2010 and kept it 11 years, sold so we could move to North Carolina. Now looking for another 20 seafari. Hope to keep that one for another 10 years. Still wont be up to Captain Terry.

My dad bought the 1977 23 Sceptre picture boat used for the 1977 brochures in late 76 from Potter. We ran it for years as the title went to from my dad to my brother then to me. I am the one who gets to fix it up after all the fun of using it. In the family, but not totally mine, the whole time.

Was that the boat for Kennedy ?

It was. Original bill of sale was to Jacqueline Onassis, buying it for JFK, Jr. He ended up with a 20' SC center console. My father ordered new seat cushions and coaming bolsters from the factory and they sent an incorrect color a second time; first time was yellow, second time was brown. Had to live with ugly crap for a few years before finally going to white.

I remember this story...maybe someone at the plans was color blind and did not tell anyone otherwise how do you screw that up?
