Looks to me like punishing yourself is going to be well worth it. Hull and console look fantastic.

alright the boat had its final sanding and went to paint. First after all the 545 was sanded the boat was sprayed with dykem print fliud in purple to see if there were any imperfections left. after that any small voids were filled primed and then it was time for paint. the boat gets sprayed in different sections. first was the hull, then was the gunnels, then the the inner hullsides along with the console and the engine shroud. the gutter rings are getting done today and non skid on the deck and gunnel cap are tomorrow. in the last pic you can see the engine shroud placement and side profile.

here are some pics enjoy

Looking good!!

I am at the stage in my 20SF build where we are replacing the deck. Toying with the idea of cutting out the "casting platform" as you did.

A few questions. It appears you left the stock cap in place. While walking to the bow, how far is the bolster away from your thighs? Can you lean on it without the inner hull tripping you up near your feet?

I like the flush deck, but seems like you actually loose room because of the flare of the hull sides.

I keep going back and forth on the issue.

Yours looks awesome!

Bryan I did not like the forward casting platform, it was small and people were always falling off it . the worst is when the floor was slippery when cast netting and going on my ass. If memory serves me which was 5 months ago.... when you had your knees against the the top cap your toes were even, so your feet werent behind you. If you wanted it to stick further in you could split the top cap and move it in 2-4" all the way around which really helps mounting rod holders in the gunnel. the gunnel is very narrow in the back and with the hump that is on the inside it makes it worse.

I also look at it this way, the boat is small to begin with and does it really matter if the cast deck gets you 7" higher in the front? remember you are raising the decks 3" all the way to the bow so the difference is only 7" in the end. Its way worth it to me to have a flush deck all the way around

Good point.

I haven't decided how high to raise my deck yet, was shooting for 1" because I did not want to loose freeboard but your observations make sense.

I guess I need a few more ponder beers with a few pieces of plywood to hash things out.
