Re: Cape Cod gathering - Aug 11
I missed ya !
I hit the snooze button too many times this am, finally left the house at 6am, launched at Sandwich at 9, puttered around the mouth of the canal, and then Scortons Creek area, then headed to the Fingers about 10. Hit some smallish bluefish, and tried to raise folks on 68/69 - no joy on that, and I could see Pilgim Monument, so I headed up to Race Point, as I was hearing some prety good tuna chatter. Went around the back side to Peaked Hill Bar, running a Rapala deep down center, and birds and daisy chains off the riggers. Had a tuna take the rapala, and damn near spooled me on a 113, till I cranked up the drag, and then thumbed it for extra.... Pop !!! Oh well. Had knockdowns on both riggers, but was blueifsh, not tuna, still, picked up a nice big blue. Also had an icredible whale show, there were about 4 - 5 of them right in close, breaching, tail wagging, the whols 9 yards. Scooted back down to Barnstable harbor, checked out the boats on the outside, went inside - nada, as far as Seacrafts. Tried again on 68/69, went back out to the fingers to troll some more, and called some more on the radio. Oh well, I have enough beer to last awhile, had a hellova day OTW, the boat ran great, and I'm burnt and dead tired. Till next time !! Bill |

Re: Cape Cod gathering - Aug 11
Went to Barnstable on Sat. and Sun. launched from Sesuit beautiful weather both days excellent fishing for stripers and fluke on outgoing tide. On Sat. had to be 100 boats anchored at Sandy Neck, on Sun. 200 no place to anchor. Maybe next time a weekday or later in the season, Sept. is a great month on the Cape no crowds and great weather.
Till next time |

Re: Cape Cod gathering - Aug 11
What happened to this meet ? I was there planning to see alot of classics. I beached with my wife at the inlet and did not see one all day. I was looking forward to better results, the good thing was the weather was beatiful so it was not a complete waste of day. Hope we can put something a little better together in 2008.

Re: Cape Cod gathering - Aug 11
Not to put you guys down. It is always difficult to
try and set a date to make everyone happy.. What we found out was just someone take the lead, come up with a time and a place. This Spring gathering at Long Point will be the 3rd for those of us in Florida going camping. Capt. Chuck started the whole thing with opening up his home to those going to the Dania Marine Flea Market. It just took off from there. We are well over 100 people, more then likely 35 plus boats. We will have magazine coverage from some of the finest publications out there. Boat Pics.com is going to do aerial photography as we run out the inlet in formation. It is not an easy task to pull it off and have fun at the same time..... So with that said go ahead and plan your trip to come to Florida and join us.... We have members coming from all over the country now. Ask Old Blues Player (Bill), Four Boat Theory (Otto) and so on...... Even if you do not bring your boat one of us hospitable southerners would be more than happy to come and get you to the event. There are several major airports within just over an hour to Long Point... I for one would be willing to pick up anyone flying into either Melbourne, Daytona or Orlando.... You will never regret the time and money you spend to join us..... They just keep getting better and bigger. We all have a common bond and that is what makes these gatherings work... See ya soon, Ken
