Re: Water Pressure vs Water Temp gauge
On my 200 HP V6 Merc I added an additional temp sensor.
One on each bank, plus the water pressure. I used the Merc guages which are made by Teleflex. There is the tan wire in the harness for the 1st temp, then I used the spare (I Believe) brown with yellow trace wire for the second sensor. This way you can monitor both banks on the engine. The only noticable difference is the add on sensor runs a fuzz higher then the oem sensor. After my water impeller starts to age I notice that my running temp starts to rise more then a new impeller. That is one reason to change the impeller at least once a year. There is a date code on all impellers, just look for the raised number on it inside the blades "circled", that is the year it was manufactured. Hope this helps, Ken

Re: Water Pressure vs Water Temp gauge
i want to try a 25 inch lower unit that i know is working properly.
no bones, that grommet around the brass tube in the midsection is that supposed to be rubber and fit tightly? |

Re: Water Pressure vs Water Temp gauge
You should have a plastic extension pipe, about 3-4 inches long that fits into the water pump housing outlet tower, and then slips over the brass tube in the midsection.
No extension tube = very little water pressure = overheating. The dense foam rubber grommet fits OVER the plastic extension tube and seats down tightly against the water pump housing outlet tower. Without the extension tube, all your water pressure just fills up the interior of the midsection housing, and doesn't get to the powerhead.

Re: Water Pressure vs Water Temp gauge
i mean the tube that goes into the exhuast plates. i think that maybe the problem because its the second water pump ive had put on. actaully 3 if u count the original. the reason i think its in the exhaust plate is because i now have water coming out of one of my above water exhausts. maybe i blew the motor cuz it ran so hot before? it was running pretty bad last time i took it out
either way we are ready to take this motor off. just tryin to decide to part it out or sell it as a whole. |
