Hey Scott, Happy birthday, hope you made it a good one...
I'm not familiar with the Seabird cuddy attachment but it may be similar... I haven't done battle with the cuddy cap yet but it appears to be an insert that is fit within and mechanically attached to the cockpit insert. Hopefully the 2 liners are not puttied together. In Lost2a6's post he mentioned that the teak which serves as a seam hider was attached with 5200 or similar adhesive and a bear to remove. I'd like to remove the cuddy just to assess everything but I don't want to tear up the joint needlessly... Shame this boat has been neglected but I guess that's the only reason I could afford to buy it. Question is can I afford to make her a runner again?

The early Seavette's had a two piece top deck, Potter took the cap from the CC and just tabed in the top cabin, and used the teak to hide the seam. The later 78's had a one piece molded top cap. My 78 Vette has a one piece molded top cap. If anyone was wondering the floor liner is from the 23 Sceptre. I'm planning on cutting the cabin top loose and moving it ahead 14" to gain more cockpit space... pics to follow of the work when the snow goes away

Hi Don, Thanks for confirming my findings. As I explored the construction, that came to mind - Sceptre cockpit insert and CC gunwale cap sans the inset rail setback (at least I didn't notice it). My cuddy cap appears to be a one piece insert and removable with a screwgun and a thin blade to cut the adhesive (and a lot of patience, I'm sure). Will you move your windshield forward (seems tricky at best)or just the lounge bulkhead? I removed my barrel bolster seats and will probably get rid of them. They eat up cockpit space...Like to hear more about your "adjustment" plans.

I'm going to move the whole thing, I'm going to cut it loose the same way your's is put together. Remember I'm just cutting the "cabin" part at the location where the teak was. I'll side the whole top forward including the windsheild and cabin top 14" and then glass it back together. When its done the wire ways that are in the cabin on the port and star sides will be flush with the bulkhead.

When you slide the cabin forward will you actually be cutting it at the top edge of cabin so it so the roof lays over the sides of the cabin as it moves forward? And then trim overlay flush to the cabin sides and re-glass? Or are you lifting the whole structure up and then forward?

I'm working the barter system for all of the work I can't do, I have a painter that needs a top for his boat. I'll get some pics up soon.
