We have not seen the etec yet but i am 90% sure the oil tank is mounted on the engine. Plus no dealer service for 3 years under normall use.

Spark plugs are 8.68 each and should be changed every 100 hours. The DI engine gets serviced every 100 hours. Cost with parts 120.00 As for 4 strokes at 100 hours you have 37.45 for the synthetic oil which is strongly recomended to be used in the 140 plus 10.00 for the oil filter. Spark plugs are also changed at 100 hours at 3.20 per plug. Cost on the 100 hour service on your 4 strokes with parts runs 150.00. Then there is the 400 hour service. Sure you can find cheaper oil and filter but with the money you spend on these engines is crazy to put cheaper oil into it. Both engines at 100 hours get more then the plugs changed on the DIS and oil, filter, and plugs on the 4 strokes. The engines get decarbonized, gearlube changed, ECM updates and downloads. We carry the 140 in the 25" model. I believe BUDS outboard is your closest dealer. We are about 25 miles from ocean city.

Well if you can't beat them, join them!

I put a deposit down on a leftover/new '03 Suzy DF140.

As others posted, with the 6 year warrantee plan back ... "How can you go wrong?"

If, in a few years the 2-stroke technology catches up to my needs, the resale of a DF140 with years of warrentee ... "How can you go wrong?"

So for now, 4-strokes are better than 2!

No matter what outboard you purchase today in the manual it states every 100 hours to change the plugs. This has to be done to maintain the STAR rateing. Im not trying to press the issue to sell plugs.
