Re: 23 SeaCraft CC in NJ
PeterB,
First off, welcome to the site. You'll find all the info you'd ever want to know about SC's here. WA vs. CC ride - due to helm placement of the 2 boats and the additional weight carried forward in the WA, you will notice a difference in ride. With the CC, you are placed aft and in the center of the hull, pretty much the "sweet spot" when it comes to ride comfort. With the WA (and the same goes for the Sceptre cuddy model), you're forward and off to the side, so the ride seems a little more harsh. Trim tabs - recommended for lateral leveling of the boat, but not necessary for planing purposes. However, if you carry heavy loads often, or you really want to punch through a head sea, tabs are a must. SC vs other makes - well, this is a SeaCraft site after all. Timeline and Tracker quality - I suggest doing some searching on this site and you'll come up with a general concensus of Tracker's quality, plus you'll find a very comprehensive timeline of who owned SC and when. |

Re: 23 SeaCraft CC in NJ
I think I have to get myself a ride in a SC 23CC. I own a 23 Tsunami w/ an i/o ( aka Sceptre ) and the ride is absolutely insane - it's perfect in most any snot. I am not arguing about the possibility that a 23 CC model rides better due to the aft weight and center of the helm - but if the ride is even noticable between a Tsunami and a CC - I would be surprised and impressed. Maybe a 23 Tsunami w/ an i/o rides as well or better than a 23 CC due to the heavy weight of the engine and a bravo III drive ? As for a walkaround - they seem like they would be even more bow heavy than a Tsunami. As we all know different sea conditions warrant different hull attitude/tab adjustment and speed. The different sweet spots on the hull vary with the different conditions so much - that I learn more every day I am on the boat ( although 'born on the water', I am relatively new to a SC w/ only 150 hours in my 1st season - so I respect the opinion of others w/ years of experience on these boats ). I find in calm seas, my boat rides best w/ a moderate to light power trim - skimming along. In rougher seas, she likes the trim almost all the way down - it seems so more of the entry V can cut through the rough chop. If I trim her up in a rough sea, she definitely does not ride as smoothly as when the bow is more down - she seems to bounce around too much. As for trim - sheeeet! These boats and trim tabs were made for each other. You must have trim tabs. Period. In a stiff wind or a quarter chop - you lift that side of the hull up to the chop and wind and the hull maintains it's deep V symmetry - the ride is simply unbelievable. With that same condition and no trim tab adjustment - you might as well be in any boat! However, most other boats w/ trim tabs - once brought to symmetry just do not have the Sc deep V. Anyway, I would like to hear if anyone has experienced both a 23 Tsunami and a CC for rideability ? ABL |

To further qualify my statement, I'm not saying the Sceptre's ride is by any means poor, it is just a different feel due to the balance and weight distribution of that model vs a CC. Regarding Sceptre I/O vs Sceptre OB (and even Sceptre IB for that matter), I have ridden in them all. IMO, the IB rides best due to the engine low and in the center, next is the I/O due to the weight of a V8, and lastly is the OB. |

Re: 23 SeaCraft CC in NJ
Scott, wait until you ride in the vette. You sit almost on the transom and when your getting on plane you just about have to get on you tippy toes to see over the bow.
With the additional weight in the front and the helm so far back is why the boat rides so nice.
