Re: Possibly New Owner Got A Question
i would run two temp gauges one for each head and get a wema fuel sender for the tank. done deal.
i run penzoil in my black max. advance auto parts sometimes has special $20 dollars off $100 dollar purchase. i stock up on the penzoil premium plus oil at that time. |

Re: Possibly New Owner Got A Question
you can do 2 things. you can buy 2 gauges without senders and buy the factory senders. or you can buy 2 gauges with aftermarket senders and mount them on the heads. the sender may not be so easy, i dont know if you have access to the tank or original sender. if you do then you are good to go. if not maybe get a flowscan and keep track of your usage. since you are local to me i can help you out with this if you like.

The Flo-scan with fuel totalizer is a good investment. Not only will it accurately keep track of fuel use, it'll help you save gas - can determine most efficient rpm as well as optimum engine trim and trim tab settings. More expensive than Navman, Lowrance, etc., but their stuff is aerospace quality, with top-notch customer support.

With a single gauge, 2 sensors and a switch, it would be real obvious if one head was running much different than the other if the needle moved when you switched sensors. If your impeller fails, the overheat horn will warn you of the problem quicker than a gauge will anyway. As an engineer, I love having lots of gauges, but I think the money for an extra temp gauge would be better spent on a water pressure gauge, which will tell you when your impeller needs changing!

Re: Possibly New Owner Got A Question
proper water pressure in these mercs is important. mine runs at 11 psi at WOT. i plan on moving my volt meter and adding a second temp gauge. i do my water pump once a year just if it gets alot of hours or not. cheap piece of mind. since you have access to the sender just take it out and measure the tank depth and order from from wema and hook it up. problem solved for that.
denny i know that the switch option for the gauges is pretty simple but as you i like seeing alot of gauges and stuff moving too. |

www.bayvieecanvas.com Thanks for the info Qucksilver it is.. Well for this time anyways....... Took her out today, but i didnt bring my camera so I was only able to snap a real crappy one from my phone.. The Crew Ran real good, I was real impressed the way the 150 powered the boat up to speed with my parents and gf on board along with some food an and drinks in the ice chest. I really gotta add the gps/finder combo it's not kool running around with out it. I have another question I dont have a temp gauge and the fuel gauge dosent seem to read correctly. What options do I have to help remedy these issues ? [/QUOTE] |
