I would have to slow down for a head sea in the Mako or get pounded to death. The Seacraft is opposite, you speed up to smooth out the ride.It also feels like a much bigger boat than the Mako.Everyone I have taken offshore with it is impressed with the ride.

The Mako I had was a great boat but the Seacraft is superior.
Very nice rig for sure. The cockpit looks warm and cozy all wrapped up. Is that a 30 inch motor?

I believe the Mako 25 CC was probably the best ride through 3-4' chop....some say better than the 26' CC because it was narrower than the 26.

Don't know how the 25' rides compared to the 23 Seacraft because I never ran a Seacraft.

I looked at 80's era Mako's and spent some time on the Classic Mako site for research. There were two 25' hulls in the era, two different molds. One is 8' beam and one 8' 6". Most claim the 8' beam has a better ride in steep seas. I think the hull with the 8' beam was slightly longer also.

Funny i just saw this thread! I'm a huge mako fan! BUT I just sold my 1992 211 which was just about the 22 mako and went to a bracketed 23 SC. The mako was a beast...tank of a boat, nothing bad to really say about them. That being said, how the SC cuts thru the water is just amazing and the lines are as nice as they get IMHO (alth u can make a mako look sexy too with some touches).
Also somebody mentioned that Hydrasport vector 23 or 25, those boats ride well I hear, as there's a ton in my area. I pull up to that hull and every time I do I am shocked how high the bow sits, it's crazy how deep that boat is. They just don't have that run and gun look that I love about the SeaCrafts. But whatever

I have a SeaCraft 73 23" sf hull sitting beside a 88 25' kevlar Hydrasport hull and you could probaly hide the SeaCraft inside of the Hydrasport and not even know that it was sitting in it. They are huge with very high side. A beast of a boat. But if you asked me, $200 and you could pull the hydro off and have it , but add a zero and the seacraft will sit. The hydro has a new transom and stringers and just needs to be finished where the seacraft is a total project. Im a little bi-est but both are good boats but hands down sc wins in my book. I also had a 22' mako I was trying to sell for $200. It took 6-8 month to give it away and the guy who got it only bought it for the trailer. Mako's are good boats too but not a SeaCraft. Every one has thier favorites and there are many good boats made but there is something special about a "Classic SeaCraft"

I fished on my buddys 25 Mako cc for tuna and shark alot and it was a great riding boat but very wet.Every wave would hit your face.I would have to wear full raingear for the ride out or be soaked to the bone. The 25 Mako has a 23deg deadrise and the 23 only 19deg I believe. My 23 Seacraft rides about the same and a little better in a headsea.IMHO

All SeaCrafts have the legendary ride. The modern boats have higher transomes for the modern outboards. no wood to rot, and the 23 has an improved scupper setup. The Potter hulls are wonderful, especially if someone has painstakingly rebuilt it, but the newer ones may be more durable. I wouldn't shy away from a newer boat..........mine is a 1999 and I love it. Its fit and finish are good and there is no evidence of shoddy workmanship.
Good Luck. I hope you find a great SeaCraft.
