Hi Ken, This is Marsha. If you park your truck and trailer at Pineland Marina, it is the closest to Cabbage Key. If you un-hitch the trailer, then if Mel decides she needs something, she can call me and I'll run her over to your truck if you are out fishing. There is a Winn Dixie just past the 4 way stop street at Pine Island Road and Stringfellow about 3 miles away. It's just past the Subway by the big tree with the yellow flowers on it. Also there are some cute shops in Matlache with lots of colorful cloths, so I might need to be her shopping guide and go too! We'll just tie the boat up at Pineland and come back with a pickup truck full of clothes and a bag of cheetos for dinner! Just get that goofy husband out of my hair for an afternoon and I'll get even with him for all that money he spends on boats!
Marsha England
PS, I owe you for the peppers you picked up for me, for my Ceveche' at Long Point.

Anyway, I decided to take a look at Google Earth and route out our travel and plan location based activities for the duration. I also was doing recon on the key as well to see where to park the truck and trailer and how convenient it would be to jump in the truck to go for supplies, fuel, ice, etc. When I started to pan out from the cottage I was having a hard time finding the roads connected to the key. It didn't take long to figure out that the "key" was a non-connected island to which the only access was via water only! For me this is a non-issue. I regularly spend time offshore for over a week and can pack everything I could possibly need in a single duffle and a couple bags of groceries.... Melissa however is a logistical junky and cannot do a 3 nite business trip without two full check suitcases and a carry on. I debated at first to delay informing her of the slight change in conventional on location travel logistics but I chickened out told her the truck would not be errr need where we would be staying. Needless to say she at first was second guessing my choice of accommodations but has now started the "list" of supplies that will be required for her to be stranded on a deserted island for a week. Oh the horror of it all!
When you do any long distance hiking or canoeing, ounces are no longer a silly measurement. Portage a canoe and a pack on your back and you will understand the lightness of being.

Sometimes landing on a picnic table is better than building one and painting it on site.

My sister had a whole dresser devoted to fair isle sweaters. Priorities.

Sandy, can one contribute to the "the Lightness of being" with plastic valve covers, Aluminum cam-shafts, Titanium valve springs, and alloy heads or are they just better off without them all together? Approximately how many grams is "nothing"? Not that I'm trying to get that old 2-S xs. 4-S thing going again, but your comment on "the lightness of being" made me think - which is never good!

I don`t have any soft camshafts. Just nice sounds from my crankcase and prop.
The gremlins are chasing my new system check tach again. New low regulator is in my future
maybe. My brother throws checks at his boat. I like a different tour.

Cheers,

Roger that, Sanderman. I remember your crusade vs the forces of ole evil yani tiltpin and your arsenal of flamethrowers, battering rams, and k-yroil and the noble way you mercilessly beat that oxidized sleeved heathen and victoriously preserved kings ransom that remained in the cafe la llave can, deep in in the shadows of your bungalow. Easily 2 or 3 snappah trips worth of fuel...

Carry on wayward son...

Default Gather'ins!!!!

Gee Willickers, would you guys say focused like a laser beam in the topics of this section? It's supposed to be ''GATHERINGS" and nothin' else. Danny's going to raise sand with us because you guys keep strayin' off course! (ie. "the lightness of being") The Gatherings steering is either low on hydralic fluid, got a broken Teleflex, or the rack and pinion's tore up!

So stay focused, and don't bring up nothin' about Ken's chain drive Suzuki, Don's coil eat'in Merc's, Island Trader's gimbal bearings, Danny's 2 smoke Jon-rude or Conner's props that turn both ways! You gotta' get from way-point 'A' to way-point 'B' somehow.

Yikes, I'm kinda skeeered!! Danny's gonna flog us with the tent from LP that holds more water inside than out. I'm gonna try and do better, but I'm going to be there anyway.

The Florida threads can be run off the rails every day. The end result has always been a shared passion. A love of learning, sweating, and execution.

I think about how far I have come since falling down the rabbit hole. These rabbit holes did not exist 20 years ago. You had to work for a rabbit and hope you could make your warren happy. Now you can see what other rabbits are doing. When I was a young bunny, I always worked for rabbits with the biggest bags of Trix.

Cheers,
Slacker Air
