Hey Dirt, I'm looking at the pics where you tabbed the transom with the full skins. Did you use these full skins to tab into the bottom of the hull and around each side? Are all five skins tabbed around the side and bottom corners? I'm sure I'm not the only one, but I am taking notes from your work, and getting a lot of good information :D

The pic is actually just a pic of the prep, hadnt been glassed yet.

When I put the transom in the boat it already had 3 layers of 1700 on each side of the core, (remember the whole outer skin got taken off). Then it got another full layer with tabs on the inside, and 3 more tabs after that. The outside wasnt touched until now, well except for some wraps over the splashwell.

Glassed it here, 2 more 17oz with tabs and some finish cloth on the transom face. So just 2 tabs on to the outside of the hull. Thats about all you can really do as thin as these hulls are... Final count : 4 layers inside, 5 and some finish cloth outside. Plus all the tabbing inside. Splashwell and knees/stringers all double tabbed 17oz.

Yea in the grand scheme an extra few hours taking all that gelcoat off will soon be long forgotten. No way i was gonna prime and paint over it! Dis one is mines by the way...

Layed up one side today in 3.25 oz cloth. Wiped some fairing compound on that transom tie-in and went wet-on-wet with the glass (thats why its so shiny in that one spot on this photo)Ill hit it with the DA and then spray some high build... Shit lays down niiiice, hopefully itll get rid of some of the original roving print thru.

Good luck with that, The print threw is a pain to get gone. On one of my old hulls I sanded into the gel fairly hard with 120 grit with a Hutchins line sander and then added 5 layers of 2000e primer (grey and then white back and forth to be able to see high spots or the roven) blocking down between the layers of primer trying to get the roven print threw out. About 2 years latter it started to show up again slightly. I should of did like you and removed all the gel completely.
