I have been doing some re do work on my boat for the last 6 weeks. I had to take some spider cracks out of the cap and re finish the cap with Sterling paint and nonskid. This weekend I added 3 more rod holders and then painted the entire deck using a roller with Sterling and nonskid as well. I didn’t have to do any premiering since this was a new coat of nonskid over Sterling that I did about 1 & ½ yrs ago. The reason why I re did all the nonskid is because when I originally did the job I used just fine nonskid material as time goes on the fine nonskid doesn’t do the job so this time I mixed half and half with fine and course nonskid that maid a big difference. Personally using a foam roller on the nonskid job is the way to go you can spread it very well and since you are not looking for a glossy finish the nonskid material in the paint prevents any air bubbles so no brushing is needed. I went to a hardware store and picked up tape that has a 30 day rating costs approx $4.00 a role works great and a lot cheaper that at a marine store.
