Re: Fuel tank size on 1986 23 outboard
Otto:
"The new tank is roughly 28" wide x 11" high x 116" long outside." Scott: "same width and height and 99" long gets you to 132 gallons" After all, we are fisherman here. You know how things tend to get longer/bigger the more you tell the story... |

OK - how did you guys empty your tanks and what did you do with the premix?

Hey Scott M
"After all, we are fisherman here. You know how things tend to get longer/bigger" I'm been telling my wife this for 30 years! |
Re: Fuel tank size on 1986 23 outboard
John,
I used the gravity method. I parked the boat on our loading dock, extended the hose and let the gas flow though a filter into my truck (20 gallons), then the car (10 gallons), then the forklift (5 gallons), then the other forklift (5 more), then finally 2-5 gallon cans. Several weeks later, we stuffed a gas soaked rag into the fill tube and lit it. Man, I wish I had a video of that event. It gives you an idea what it could do if still installed in the boat, less the shards of fiberglass and battery acid... (Sick, huh?) |

Man ... WE could make a movie ...Maybe get LT.DAN in there too ... And the winner of this years DARWIN AWARD..... Well waste disposal aint cheap ....I was quoted over $200 .... plus a charge for every gallon over 50...they would come to the boat ....but I had to get it out of the tank.... I know someone who has some big farm equipment .... he took it ....Like Otto says gravity ..... But I haven’t blown up the tank yet |
