My 72 does not have a HIN either, just one of those stickies like Blue_Heron except mine was on the top of the console and the only portions that are readable are the numbers which are stamped into it. I was going to try to have a new one made. It serves as both a capacity plate and a HIN and I vaguely recall that Fr. Frank had something like that made recently... Odd that the HP rating is so low... not even 150...

That's because the biggest outboards available in 1972 were about 135 hp!!
