My dad keeps a pack of that berkly gulp in his tackle box. baitfish eat it like fresh bait and he has done well on the grouper tipping jigs with it. In all reality for cut bait, fresh grunt catches grouper as well as anything except spearguns.

The gulps in little pieces work great on pinfish, but nothing like dropping a real 5 incher on a ledge this time of year

I have also been out fished with squid on a couple occasions so its just not for bait - but because it is bait - I don't eat bait - just say'in

Squid for Grouper has always been my first choice...

I take my dad grouper fishing 3 or 4 times a year and we have had great success with shimano lucanis and knife jigs. He laughed at them when I first bought a few but we haven't bought bait in over 2 years. Gag, reds, ARS, cobia and Ajs cannot pass them up when the bite is on. During the winter we even catch bull redfish when they migrate offshore.

Stopped in at Miss Vickys this weekend - food was excellent, boiled peanuts, cold beer then Susan and I split a 1/2 pound burger - fresh made daily. I couldn't finish even my half, fries were nice big ones and the beer was really cold.

You guys trying to hook up on thurs or Fri from the Anclote ramp or coming up from the south this would a great spot if you need lunch - or the southern tip of Anclote.

I will post GPS numbers for both in a little while, I will be out on Thurs also -

google earth has a very recent pic of the southern tip and the best spot is the curly tip of the bar. Its right outside the river and right alongside of ICW so would be good meeting spot - water temp in the Gulf 82' - in the shallow lagoon 87', I even got in at that temp

saw a big pile of grouper that came from 50-60' over the weekend
