I second this^ the 80's model hulls were a tad longer, not sure where? but they did end up stretched out just a tad.

Bingo....

Current 2000’s 21 is a cut down 23SF. Over half of the references to a SC 21 currently come from someone rounding the length over 20 on a 20SF to 21.

The norm has always been to round up so a 19'6" gets to be a 20 footer and a 20'4" gets to be a 21 although I dont know if any of the 80's boats were marketed as a 21?

Now for another question since you've brought up the newer 21...I've talked to several people about the newer 21's being a cut down version of the 23. Yes you can see thats it's way bigger then the 20sf. The question I had was...how was the mold made on the 21? did they simply cut 2 feet off the back of a 23 and make a new mold from that? or has the gunnel height been taken down a bit as well. Anyone ever get a picture of the newer 21 and the 23 side by side? I realize that the interior was changed significantly and would rather not get into that.

The beam on the 21 is 8' and 24" of freeboard aft, the 23 is 8 2" not sure of freeboard but I would assume its also more, sitting in the water the 23 is taller

I don’t think the 20’s were ever marketed as a 21. Never seen it....Pigsticker has some good feedback on the newer 21 with dimensional changes. I was next to a 21 at beer can island in Longboat pass recently. The 21 did look like the freeboard was lower.

The 20 was always a 20.
Schhhhhnnnnooookems is right.

Some folks selling their 20`s called them 21`s.

Always heard the newer 21 was a cut down 23.
Never taped one.

Vezo, Part II 09-25-2018 07:06 PM

My ‘77 Seafari says 19’ 8”, as does my ‘79 MA I believe but can’t put hands on reg right now. After all the title work for the ‘76 Seafari, I also believe to be same.
