Re: Finster's Score's Big

This is cool. I just got off the phone with the second owner of the boat. He got in touch with me through a post I made on screamandfly.com. He had the stripes put on it and it was powered with twin 235's, said he got it up to 67 mph. So now we finally know what an SC will do with twin 235's on it.
It's sounds like the boat changed hands quit a few time before making it's way to my door. And the boat came from a local dealer here in South Jersey.

What are the odd's??

Re: Finster's Score's Big

There was a customer of mine back in '83 at Waterway Marina in Palm Beach Gardens with a 23' SeaVette that had twin 235 Evinrudes, both RH rotation. He was turning 25" over the hub choppers and claimed a top speed of 71-73, depending on temp, humidity, wind, etc. I believed him.
I know that in the ocean in 1'-3'seas he easily outran a brand new 25' Checkmate equipped with identical engines turning 23" SS oem props, even though the Checkmate was a full half-ton lighter in weight.

I know because I was driving the Checkmate.

You haven't lived until you try to handle throttles AND wheel on a 23'-25' boat at 60 mph+ in the ocean. You kind of skip across the wavetops. Whooohaaaa!!!

I used to be crazy, but I'm much better now, really I am.

That's why my wife's 17' Carolina Skiff has a 115 with a jet on the back. (Merc inline six 140 with a jet pump = 115 hp)

Nice.........verrrry nice. I like they way you think.

Amazingly enough I got the running lights going yesterday. We're in pretty good shape for this weekend gathering.

She's now in the shop to get the motor taken off and evaluated. I think she should be good to go for a couple years.

My job now is redoing the transom, cutting out the motor well for more seating and redoing the cosmetics. Really not to bad all in lall. And the bonus was I got to enjoy the boat this season before ripping it apart.

And I owe a great deal of thanks too Scott. Who worked like a dog with me on this to get it in the water. With out his help I don't think it would have happened.

Otto stop it. I know what your thinking.

Cheers.

That really is a great score. You guys got her in the water real fast. Good luck with her. Are you putting a different bracket on it? I cant seem to find any other pics then the ones on this thread.

Re: Finster's Score's Big

Hi Strick, no thats about all the pic's we've got so far. After I get the motor yanked I'll take some more. As for the bracket I'm going with a single Hermco. But I have a little work to do first like close the transom, cut out the motor well and do a little reconfiguring. Pretty minor stuff comprared to my 23SF which I have looked at in a year.

I could get them both done for next year, all I need is a place to work and lots of money.

Re: Finster's Score's Big

Well, I just scored twin 2.4 200hp Merc's for the badboy Vette. I'm really psyched about it! The boat should run like a bastard.
Now all I need to do is finish the transom this winter, outside, alone, in the cold...........

Oh well, gotta do what you gotta do
