Scalloping by braille...........that's my normal way of doing it anyway, can't see poop!! Now for you really good scallop finding fools, unlike me, dirty water may be a problem.

On to the important stuff, I would make sure the beer is clear.......

I'd be more concerned about the "Apple Pie" clarity...LOL! More copper, less lead!

Blue_Heron 09-18-2017 06:10 PM

Julie and I will be there, arriving Friday evening. Scallops may be a non-starter after the storm, but the company alone makes the trip worthwhile. Looking forward to seeing everyone.

Eric B 09-19-2017 07:26 AM

We do a volunteer day every year with Tampa Baywatch collecting data on the amounts of scallops in TB. Basically counting them in a designated GPS coordinate. With the tannin water of TB clarity is an issue. They provide everyone with a simple 3 foot long piece of PVC. You dive down and push the PVC through the grass and when you feel a bump in the grass you investigate further. Might be worth a shot there Don! Would widen the braille page for ya!!

DonV 09-19-2017 08:32 AM

Hummmm.....let me think, in my case I would need a 4" x 3 foot piece of PVC. :)

Eric

I found some stuff left over from other gatherings I'll be bringing. I have enough bowls, only about 40 Chinet paper plates and some Costco plastic ware, good on the knives, maybe ok on the spoons, but not good on the forks.

kmoose 09-19-2017 08:27 PM

We are bringing fish we got right before Irma got here. There should be plenty to feed everyone. It is a mixed bag of hogs, gag, red snapper and cobia. I'm thinking 15-20 lbs of fillets.

Well ladies and gents,

Amy and I were faced with many choices on solo cups. Being put in charge by the great Don V of picnic ware was a tall order to fill. Yellow, Blue, Red, even Pink cups. It was a tough task for the first timers. When given the choice we had to go with what seems to be the undermining theme of the event.... who says the rookies can't set the tone.....got 100!

TBubrick 09-20-2017 06:58 PM

I hope you guys have a large time...

I've been encouraged to attend but have had a conflict.
So disappointed to say the least. It seems like you have things in hand.

I on the other hand will be attending to family business...taking my daughter up for her official visit.

enjoy guys. I'm jealous.

What time are we thinking of heading to the Freezer? I want to be sure we are early enough to join the crowd.

Dave

DonV 09-21-2017 07:40 AM

Not positive Dave, however I do remember it was just after dark last time we were up there. I'm assuming it will be the same this time. Seeya then.

Anything planned for tomorrow daytime? I should be rolling in noonish. Decided to stay with my folks down the road. Do you think there’s anyplace I can leave the boat in the water for the weekend?

If your not staying at the hotel or eating at the tiki bar they may get fussy as the slips are limited. Hopefully it won't be too crowed.

bumpdraft 09-21-2017 01:31 PM

I can ask at the cg I'm staying. Probably won't get there until 1 or 2 though.

Last call on a free anchor roller for the bow. Have two stainless ones. I can bring them both and you can have your pick - free to a CSC member. Let me know! Leaving in the morning for MacRaes

Bring them. Hopefully one is longer than the one I have... it's about 2" too short.

Eric B 09-21-2017 08:58 PM

Done Ken!

Hey Eric We will be staying st MaxRaes as well and I'm interested in the anchor rollers. I'm redoing a 23 Tsunami and think maybe it's what I'm looking for. If it's not too much trouble could you please bring them? Or call me 386-852-8517

Sunday am. The Restless Lady is leaving to NY! Another great event. I'm always impressed with our group.... Great seeing everybody again!

McGillicuddy 09-24-2017 03:41 PM

Sweet photo Danny. Way to go Denny. Hard to believe Irma just ripped through the sunshine state. My sis in JAX just got back to her place on the St John's. Hope you guys have good weather and a great time (I know the latter will be true regardless). Cheers y'all:cool:

Eric B 09-24-2017 05:22 PM

Sad to have my first FL gathering be the last for that boat. She had an amazing owner (legendary) but thrilled to say a fantastic new owner. He will treat her good! It was a pleasure meeting everyone. Amy and I have tons of great pics to post. I will get to it early this week!

gofastsandman 09-24-2017 07:40 PM

He`s owned that boat since 74.
Amazing.

Thank you my friend.
You and others have taught me volumes.

Bittersweet Endings

Yes. A bit of sadness to see "Restless Lady" head north. I have known Denny since the early 70s at Pratt & Whitney in WPB, Fla. i accompanied him on other boats to the Bahamas in thd mid 70s. In 1976 he took Anita and I for a fast & exciting ride through about a 2.5-3.0 chop through the Palm Beach inlet. That sealed the deal. Not long thereafter we ordered our '76 Seafari from Brown & Hauptner in PBG. One could go a long ways to find a better friend or one so knowledgable as Denny. Best wishes on the Loop, Denny!
