I love the arrow detail in the non-skid for orientation!

Man i just couldnt bring myself to use it! I did have a version with a center recessed bolt to turn and tighten a carbon arm thing i made but the tight clearance with the tank just didnt let it work...

The flange nor the hatch are a perfect circle so i found the way it fit best lol

I know how Awlgrip is really tough and have been happy with it..can it be wet sanded and buffed?

strick

Many are using Alexseal now.

Not quite as hard as Awlgrip, but easily blended for repair.

Awlcraft is pretty soft.

A friend at Tribute said there a few secrets to shooting Awlgrip.
He likes to start with a dry tack coat and then another and sometimes another.

Then a medium coat followed by heavy.

He said the structure comes from the tack coats and helps to avoid runs.

He said some of his best work is achieved when it is raining outside.

I`ll have to ask why as it caught me off guard.

I have heard a few people say this about doing a light tack coat with Awlgrip

strick 11-10-2020 07:08 PM

Thanks Sandy I’ll look into the Alexseal but will most likely stay with regular awlgrip..I kinda know what to expect with it.... the instructions say to do a tack coat first and I agree with you buddy that another tack coat on top of that seems to work better...I just sprayed a swim platform small one for my Egret and it came out good...but I went over about 4 times total

Awlgrip loves humidity. Really helps it flow and cure.
Not so good for those of us in New England spraying in a heated shop in February.

As we all laugh.

The corners of my dash are cracked. Way too many hours and coats.

Awlwood vs epoxy and Awlclear.

I lost. I'm slowly becoming an epoxy person.

strick 12-19-2020 06:28 AM

Looks great Chris...sits nice and high...def looks like it’s going to be a nimble little skiff...you nailed the balance just right...wonder what it weighs

Strick

dirtwheelsfl 12-19-2020 11:46 AM

Didnt get to run it alone, had a buddy with me but had him move around and didnt have any noticeable list. Even with 2 of us on the aft deck it ran pretty flat. It will definitely be better when i get some weight in the bow with cooler n whatnot.

Definitely a little bottle rocket. Didnt have a chance to weigh her but before the motor i was able to lift a stern corner by myself when it was on blocks n stands. Need to get some more in water pics. And figure out a video!

NoBones 12-19-2020 08:14 PM

I'm throwing the flag !!!!
No registration or Emblems ?? That is it no "Gucci" stamp :D

Nice job Chris...;)

deerfly 12-20-2020 12:49 PM

Amazing start to finish transformation, ingenuity and craftsmanship. Not enough superlatives to do it justice. Masterclass in boat restoration.

jorgeinmiami 12-20-2020 01:45 PM

Looks like a awesome bay boat. Congratulations on the build

It came out so great. You put spray rails on everything, huh!

erebus 12-24-2020 10:46 PM

How'd the rigging tube fitting you made work out?
Any chance of any pics of that?

Kithogue 12-25-2020 12:28 AM

Dirt, i think you have rebuild at least 2 boats in the the time its taken me to get halfway through my first.... and it's not for lack of quality.

Always nice watching the experts.
