25$ paid Transaction ID # 52R25949EL712962H

As much as I hate to Im going to have to part with My 1973 Seafari 20 to fund the fixing up of My 72 25'er.
so....
1973 Seafari 20 with a 1988 Mercury 75hp W/ SS prop and a 8hp evenrude kicker
solid boat with no soft spots in the floor

heres a list of the things Ive done;
new steering system
new fuse and switch panels,
new washdown pump , thru hull and hose
new west marine cd stereo w/new speakers,
new VHF radio and antenna
New rod holders,
new volt and gas guages mounted in teak panels
New custom built radar arch with rocket launchers rod holders and I moved the mast light from the windshield to the arch
new spreader lights
new bilge pump, hose, and float switch
new compass,
new stern light a
new airator pump in live well,
new cabin light
all above installed with new wireing
2 batteries [1 new] with new perko switch and new battery cables, I moved the batteries to the front under the center seat in the cabin and installed gill battery hold down trays
40+? gal alum fuel tank, I pulled the tank and had it cleaned out and replaced the fill and vent hose and the fuel sender in tank ,added new fuel lines and H2O seperator filter with selector valve to run the kicker,
both engines have new impellers ,tune ups, lower unit lube and fuel lines
Both run great
New colmbing pad Ulpostry
other stuff I added that the boat comes with ;
bimini top, and boot
teak swim platform w/ladder,
SS fender baskets,

theres a few things left I was gonna to do,
{DONE}one of the cockpit drains in the floor, I replaced one with a brass threaded thru hull but havent got to the other side , Its filled with epoxy from the top and bottom to seal it up. { Other drain is now installed}
replace the tach
replace the headliner and seat cushions in the cabin , they are missing,
replace cabin door with a teak one {the door was missing when I got the boat so I built a plywood door and varnished it } looks and works OK
It could use a good buffing, some day I was going to paint the boat but......
the transom has a plate but seems solid, It was replace in the 90's

NEW;;; now has a 1990 alum trailer

4500 obo over 6 invested and many of hours

Nice

If you drove Old Yeller to Long Island, NY, it may work out! :)

its only 897 miles down here, that aint too far to get a Seacraft!
I just drove 1600 round trip to get My 25

Erik 03-17-2012 11:38 AM

Wish I could...best of luck!!!

cdavisdb 03-17-2012 12:00 PM

Erik, maybe you should rethink. Take some time to review bildgerat's posts on "Old Yeller".

Boats with a known history, substantial recent work, and cheap enough to put another engine on if needed, are hard to find.

bilgerat 03-17-2012 02:03 PM

Motor runs great, Its a fresh water motor that I bought off a pontoon boat , Its only been in salt twice , boat tops out at 32MPH and planes out good with 2 people , Kinda slow out of the hole with 4 big guys in it.

Erik 03-17-2012 07:22 PM

I hear ya...can't make the trip though. Somebody down there should definitely pick that up! A nice turnkey Seacraft!

NoBones 03-17-2012 09:05 PM

What?, No sense of adventure?
Surely you have a couple of buds that would love
to take a road trip to the deep south!!! ;)
This is a hell of deal from a CSC member!!

Erik 03-18-2012 04:32 PM

It would be a fun trip, but the timing is off.

Erik 03-19-2012 08:12 PM

Bilgerat

Before I look elsewhere...I just want to make sure that Old Yeller is taking a cruise up to Long Island anytime soon...she would match my yellow Jeep! :D

I checked Uship.com and got an $872 shipping estimate. OUCH

NoBones 03-19-2012 09:04 PM

It would cost you more then that in food and lodging for the trip!!

Drove close to 1900 miles roundtrip for a 23 Sceptre in LA. with two close
friends in 2004 and dropped $1250.00 ....
To top it off I gave the boat away for $1 last year to a good CSC member.
Bottom line is open up your wallet or throw in the towel!!
Any boat has a value of what you are willing to contribute!

Erik 03-19-2012 09:33 PM

Very true...very true...this may not be my Seacraft time right now...I'm still hanging around though. :)

bilgerat 03-22-2012 09:57 PM

I just spent over a grand on My trip to Key Largo to get My 25, it aint about the money spent, its about getting what you want when you want it,
the pursuit of happiness lies within the journey to find it.

What kind of numbers do you get with that 75HP

bilgerat 03-26-2012 04:22 PM

tops out at 32mph at 4500rpms, , cruises at 18-22 mph at 3200rpms. Never checked the fuel burn but Id guess it 7 to 8 gph on average

McGillicuddy 03-27-2012 01:33 PM

bilgerat,

Wow, over 3400 views and no offers ??? shes a great boat, I cant believe she hasent sold.

McGillicuddy 09-14-2012 12:12 PM

Bilgerat, I don't get it either. Hang in there. Every time I look at mine I say wow what a great looking boat... Maybe Fred can give you some tips... like paint it blue? Heck, I don't know. What do you think, Fred?

That foto of the 20 next to the 25 is quite a story...

jerry1 09-14-2012 01:46 PM

I would keep it. With gas going to $5.00/gal. and use the 25 only for long offshore trips

bilgerat 10-07-2012 09:40 AM

I might as well just keep Her, Ill never get all the $ and time ive put into to her back , I did take Her out the other day and just rode around awhile, she ran like a dream.
I really want to get the 25 finished up but being in the boat fixing biz in N Ga. in the off season is kind of tough on the old wallet. thats the only reason I listed her to begin with.
