Fuel Fill...back up
I've been getting some backflow when filling the tank on my 23ft. We've replaced the vent on the outside of the hull and its still backing up.
Is the next step to replace the hose from the deck to the tank? I'm nervous about that being the an enormous project. Has anyone else had this issue? Thanks! |
when this occurs - it's usually a kinked vent hose...
|
This sometime happens if the vent hose is blocked. I've had water/ fuel stuck in mine before. Try unhooking the vent hose from the fuel tank end and blowing on it, that usually does the trick.

Sometimes mud-dobbers build dirt nests in or around the vent and/or hose attachment area.

no its not the vent - the fuel fill line has a low spot somewhere - when doing a sending unit I moved my line off a pile of foam - bad bad move, created a low spot. I had to pull it again put it back up there and it got better again. Maybe try shortening it, disconnect it from the fill and pull it as tight as possible and straight as possible - easier than pulling the hatch - worth a try.

He said he checked it already, I have to believe him
|
Yeah, I guess he did. I thought he was just referring to the vent itself, but not the vent hose. Check it all! Good luck!

I gueese ive never had a blocked vent line what exactly happens (backflow)?
|
not exactly but it would try and vent back up the fuel fill - kinda like a lawnmower can without a vent. Vent issues will cause the bulb to suck flat as you run trhe motor
|
I see thanks
