Let's do it

NoBones 05-31-2017 09:45 PM

Was just talking to a few other members over the last week about
doing a scallop gathering at MacRae's....:)
Also in favor of moving up the big bend as well !

We need to do it NOW to block rooms in time for Sept.

It is up to you guys on that side of the state...
We have been slackin' on this side... :(

Lets do it !

TomParis 05-31-2017 09:47 PM

I am down for it!

rcnight 06-01-2017 06:41 AM

We just need to beat the "rainy season" - if thats possible. I tried Steinhatchee last year and the visibility was maybe 12" after all the rain run-off. Not the best pickin conditions.

TomParis 06-01-2017 07:40 PM

I know my area is far for most of you, but last season people including my family got their limit in 30 minutes. If you guys decide to come here I got some great scalloping locations.

DonV 06-04-2017 11:44 AM

OK here we go......

If we want to try scalloping from Homosassa Springs using MacRaes as a "base of operations" they have enough rooms available where we could block off ten rooms, plus the Gator Den, the weekend of September 22nd., which looks to be the last weekend of scallop season (see post #2 above). Nothing available of that quantity of rooms before then. I think we did the last weekend of scallop season last year from Hernando Beach.

Looks like one of those "ya snooze, ya lose" things where a firm decision has to be made quickly, unless we want to go after the season like we did a couple of years ago in November if I remember correctly.

Comments? Thoughts.

Oh yeah, a standard room is $111 per night (11% tax included).

10-4, We're (me, Ms. Marsha and Round Boy) good to go if that is the "locked in" date. I'll grab the Gator Den if need so we have the extra room for the DON V's Hushpuppy PAR-TY where we always play Grinderswitch real loud!

DonV 06-04-2017 09:16 PM

All right, so far it looks like three rooms.

If we continue to get interest for those dates and location I'll get with MacRae's and see what their requirements are for me to hold at least ten rooms, plus the Marshtackie Gator Den of Sin, on my credit card. I'll get back tomorrow with that info.

If this works out, I'm hoping another evening at "The Freezer" will still be done! For some of us it's an easy place to find. :)

NoBones 06-04-2017 10:08 PM

My lovely bride and I are in.....:)
Boom boom room for us please!
Oh wait, that was Snappers 10 years ago..

Handicap accessible will be fine this time. ;):

PS: Mr. England the Freezer is on me this time ! :D

77SceptreOB 06-04-2017 10:20 PM

Count me in too for a room. Are you going to make a "block" reservation or do I need to call down and do it myself?

DonV 06-04-2017 10:33 PM

I'll make a "block" reservation. More to come after I get with Lynn or Wendy at MacRae's tomorrow. I do know just in conversation I mentioned what standard room Deb and I had last time and it's booked and not available......jeeeeez.

I'm in!! I'm just a little distracted for the next 3 weeks....it looks like this low pressure will be gone next week for my crossing....clearing at West End. First night at Grand Cay and across to Great Guana.

DonV 06-05-2017 09:30 AM

You're killing me Danny!!!!! Stop it! :)

Here we go.

MacRaes has eleven standard rooms available for September 22nd & 23rd (actually only 10, I've already booked one) and the Gator Den, which is being held for Terry, Marsha and Dougie!. I have blocked those remaining ten rooms with my credit card under the title of "SeaCraft Gathering" (I thought that was rather original). We have until September 1st to purchase those rooms or they will go back to the motel for other guests. Presently for those looking to upgrade, they have a few of the rooms with kitchens available for $150 per night plus tax.

I know September 22nd is a long way off, however this is on a "first come" basis. Please call Lynn or Wendy at 352-628-2602 to reserve your room.

NoBones 06-05-2017 11:08 AM

Blondie & I are booked...
Thanks Don for taking the lead !

DonV 06-05-2017 11:58 AM

Very good!!

I was trying to remember in Key Largo in '09 was it you and Patti or Chuck and Lil that booked the "boob-boom room" at Snappers with mirrors on the ceiling, pink champagne on ice....?? :)

77SceptreOB 06-05-2017 12:09 PM

I just booked my room! Scallops beware!

Oh No, not me, it was Eric.
At our age Don, you should book the Zoom Zoom room

BTW: I recall Rodney Dangerfield stating his wife mirrored the ceiling in their bedroom, "now she can see herself laugh"

Pirate's Lair Secured

Gators Den is Done Deal. We'll set the AC on "Frostbite" and see how the No See-ems deal with that!

Thanks Don! Another CSC event scheduled. Yea! Thanks for stepping up, sir. Looking forward to it. Fortunately, FSU/Alabama is on 9/2 instead of my record at Mac Rae's of FSU vs top ranked opponents being 0-1(Dang Clemson)! May need some extra apple pie to drink if things go wrong!

DonV 06-06-2017 07:30 AM

"May need some extra apple pie to drink if things go wrong!"

I'll see if we can upgrade you to the gallon size!! :)

rcnight 06-06-2017 10:16 AM

I know it's still a few months off, do you think there'll be some festivites Friday nite?

DonV 06-06-2017 11:30 AM

Yes Sir! I'm thinking we will be doing a trip to "The Freezer" for dinner Friday evening, they serve rather good shrimp! If MacRae's event calendar is correct the "Boogie Brothers" are scheduled to play at The Shed that weekend. I'm expecting the same fish fry/cookout/pig out Saturday night we are soon to be famous for. I have not got with our lone volunteer event planner, Mr. England, to make sure that's the plan. I would also expect a raft up Saturday lunch on the water like last year's gathering at Hernando Beach. More to come.....

kmoose 06-06-2017 12:31 PM

Mel and I are booked Thursday thru Sunday.

Casey - Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. These West Coast Gatherings are not for the weak at heart.

sounds good! Gracias.

DonV 06-06-2017 04:50 PM

It does not seem like it, however it's sneaking up on two years since we went up there. I'm sure by now the locals have forgot all about GFS, so we should be good!! :)

Just driving through.....great shrimp and needed to get more familiar with the neighborhood.

NoBones 07-02-2017 11:15 PM

Ugh, we have a missin' Wood......

Snookerd 07-03-2017 08:28 AM

The group has begun to disburse....Ansley is in Live Oak, Jonas is headed to Maine, Corbin to Israel, and Jenan to Maryland. Let the games begin!

DonV 07-03-2017 09:26 AM

Oh NO!!! Stand back.....Danny's on the loose!! :)

Bushwacker 07-03-2017 11:16 AM

Don, I just signed up for one of the rooms you reserved! Danny said he had room for a couple folks on his boat, so decided it was too much trouble to haul my boat all the way over there. Although my new lady friend Arden lived on a 50' sailboat for a year in the Bahamas, she prefers a motel room to the accommodations on my 20' Seafari! Denny

DonV 07-03-2017 12:47 PM

I totally understand, especially after the Long Point monsoon gathering a few years ago, Deb says lat's the last time camping is part of any gathering

Update.....so far it looks like we have the following booked.

EricB has reserved the Presidential Suite for his family and T3, Marsha and Dougie have reserved the Gator Den. Denny, Jim, Moose, NoBones, Danny, me and I think Sandy have booked the standard rooms being held for the gathering. I think that's close to correct. Plus TerryE, Moose and myself are also staying Thursday night.

More to come......

Eric B 07-03-2017 03:36 PM

Amy and I booked a room with a kitchen. We have it booked Thurs-Sat nights. Hoping to get up there Thursday before Tampa rush hour starts

You guys need to learn how to sleep on picnic tables without rolling off
and cracking your coconut...

May pick up Thursday as I have a less than stellar towing history...and
I changed my trailer over to 4500 lb twin torsions.
I had to re-drill everything as Tragic Tilt makes all of their stuff non standard,
and I don't like their quality or attitude.

Dexter posi lubes. Thanks Chuckles.
Splooosh.

All shot with bedliner for a long life I hope.
I measured 20 times and drilled once, but as I have heard, changing from
leafs to torsion is one of the most challenging things a trailer shop can do,
and being on your back on pavement with a drill is not suggested.

Snookerd 07-10-2017 08:43 PM

Nice! Looking forward to seeing that work of art with the bedliner spray, etc.! I decided to do the leaf springs and hardware myself last go round! Do not attempt to do this without an air gun, LOL. I'm getting ready to drive back through the veterans/Suncoast Parkway up 98 to Branford this coming Thursday. The veterans Expressway is still in horrible condition for towing or driving for that matter!

T-Shirts

1 Attachment(s)
Is anyone interested in having a commemorative T-shirt made for this soon to be epic gathering? I think in the past we have done this for some of the larger gatherings. I may take on this project if there is enough interest. I have a friend in the T-shirt business that could give us a great deal on the T-shirts and screen printing. Also, we could get some corporate sponsors to contribute to keep the cost down. In fact, I'll go ahead and pledge $100 on behalf of "Louvered Products Unlimited.com"

Who is interested??

P.S. Down below you can see an example of how the Mako guys do it at their "Fun-a-ment"

Jim

I'm in! I bet Mike at IMS would be on board as a sponsor. He's a SeaCraft owner as well.
