Trim Tabs for 23' SF
Hey Gents I just purchased a 77' 23' SF..I have a Armstrong bracket so space might be a issue.. What trim tabs are you guys running..I have a good lead on the bennett m120 system..Any advice or info would be greatly appreciated!

Check out the Bennett Bolts 12" x 12"s, they have the best vertical clearance for under a bracket installation.

Tabs
The Bennett m120 system is a 10 x12 tab with a short actuator for clearance.. how do you feel about this?

With my bracket set up for 30 inch shaft I used the 12x12 with 11 inch clearance. My brother in law has a 20 seacraft with a Armstrong set for 25 inch shaft and he also used the 12x12 lenco s with 11 inch clearance and they just made it with out trim. If it were me I would mark your bracket on transom along with tab locations and adjust as needed. Lenco ask for 3/8 off bottom u could use a little of that if u need it to make it. Hope this helps

The Bolts will spoil you for ease of installation versus the hydraulics and the extra hardware. Plus the Bolt actuators are a lifetime warranty. Either are a good choice.

Yes Sir. I've helped install two sets and it's all electric. One wire for each actuator to the switch and 12v power, pretty much "plug and play". The one feature that some like and others don't is the auto-retract when the key is turned off, I assume it's an optional feature not sure. Nice if you have a trailer clearance issue and forget to retract the tabs at the end of the day. However, as an example, on a skiff they are a bit noisy if you are idling up on fish and turn off the engine they make a bit of noise going back up. Plus if you have your tabs "dialed in" most would rather have them stay in that position until done for the day. Personal preference.

another vote for the 12x12 Bolts. easy install and yes the auto reset is optional.

Now look what you've done Terry.....making me check it out!! If I ever replace my old Bennett's I'm going with the Bolt actuators, they make one that bolts right up to the same holes as the hydraulics.

DonV besides the ease of installation of the electric tabs, are there any pros or cons electric versus hydraulic?

Bennett's....
Electric Bolts pros, much faster, ease of installation and actuator warranty Hydraulic pros, never seem to break Lenco Electric pros, easy to change actuators, easy to buy actuators online in bulk (I had Lenco's on my Pathfinder and would buy two...one for a spare) |

Had assumed as much but thx for the details. Just redid my transom and raised the engine. Have to check it out more to confirm am happy with the position. But need to trim down more than before to avoid porpoising. |
I'll correct myself. if you wire the orange wire to your fuse block, they will not reset when you turn the battery switch because they wont have power to do so!

Not sure about the rest of you but, have a 50 year history of
hydraulic Bennett's on the "Bones" Came off when rebuilt 30+ years ago. Same pump, same rams...:eek: Changed out the dried out lines a couple of years ago !! Only used red aviation hydraulic fluid in steering and Bennett's.. You be the judge..:cool: |
Oh yeah the Bones is right. The X/C 5606 Phillips 66 aviation fluid IS the mac daddy!!
