Transom Bracket

I have recently purchased a 23" Center Console (1979). To gain more cockpit space I am consdering cutting down the motor well or adding a transom bracket.
Has anyone added a bracket ( like Toirans project ) as I would like to know how performance in rough weather, handling and performance are effected. This boat had no power so I am also open to recommendation as to power.
Thanks

Welcome CaptJoe to CSC

There are many threads you can read reference your refurbishing ideas by using the "Search" function.

I am in the final process of a transom redo and bracket install at this time. Go here to view some pictures ----> New Bracket

BTW; Don't forget to get your 1979 Potter Built HDS ----> HDS

Capt Joe, overall everything is better. Handling, room, performance, its a completly different boat, you wont be sorry if you add a bracket. I personally would close the transom (full)but I have seen where a bracket was installed and kept the cut out,if you dive this is nice because you can just step in without having to go over the full transom.RS.

Thanks for the reply. Is that a potter bracket? If not which one are you using?

Re: Transom Bracket

Im using an Armstrong wide body. Hermco makes a nice fiberglass one. Capt Chuck is using this one. Whatever you decide to go with make sure its a wide body.
