Baystar Steering

I am going to go with a Baystar unit since I will only be running a 150. I hope these are good units. I have noticed that the hoses are 20' long and was wondering if they can be cut or ordered in shorter lengths?

Re: Baystar Steering

You cannot cut them as they have fittings on the ends, you can curl it up in the console and use cable ties to secure, or buy shorter hoses.

from the website-

Outboard hose is too long, can I cut it down? NO! You CANNOT cut SeaStar outboard hoses. Take up the slack under the dash, or anywhere else, once that hose is cut, it is garbage.

heres the q and a page-

Sorry guys, you can cut them. Find a Hydraulic shop in your town. I had new ends swedged on. Also do a dry run with the hose before you cut it. Mark it, then cut.
Central Hydraulics in Daytona Beach did mine and they have been in the boat for 10 years.
See ya, Ken

if i remember correctly on my seastar it said you could cut them , just make sure they are the same length. the seastar has compression fittings instead of the swaged fittings it looks like the baystar has.
