2005 225 Optimax prop

Is anyone running a 225 Opti on either a 23 CC or Tsunami/Sceptre? I re-powered last year and dealer said that my old prop from my 1996 250 Merc would work with the new engine.Well- I cant get the new engine to push over 5200 RPM at WOT- All the Merc guys I talked to at the AC boat show said I should be getting at least 5800 RPM at WOT. I am going to purchase a new prop for this year. I am interested in hearing some RPM numbers from other Opti owners and what prop you are running. Thanks in advance

Re: 2005 225 Optimax prop

I have a 23 ft seacraft and have a a 225 opti (2000). I have two props; my main prop is a stainless 17 inch pitch prop and it is either 15" or 15 1/2" in diameter (I cant remember but I can check if you would like). It runs 5800 rpms wide open and 43 miles per hr. per GPS. I have a back up aluminum prop which has a 19" pitch and is a bit smaller at 14 1/2" diameter. It runs 5700 (approx) wide open and about 40 miles per hour (gps). I hope this helps.

I'm running a Mirage Plus 3 blade 15.5 dia. X 17 pitch part # 48-18278A46 on my 23' center console. It turns 5600 r.p.m. 5800 r.p.m. is optimum but as long as you're close you'll be fine.

Just drop 2" of pitch and you'll be golden

I am running a 2005 225 opti with a Mirage 17P. My numbers are almost identical to SteveH. The boat originally came with a 19P, but I was only turning about 5300 rpm or so with ideal conditions.

You can also check out the new Merc Enertia props, I haven't used it since I am happy with my Mirage.
