Bilgekote

I have a quick question, not sure how many off you have used bilgekote, but after I use it, will fiberglass and 5200 stick to the stuff. I figure with a little sanding it should be fine. Thanks a lot.

No, the paint needs to come off to add any fiberglass.

Bilgekote is dark and dingy with the Gray. I don't like it.

This is Shurwin Williams "Tile Clad HS" It's a true epoxy paint and designed for direct contact with water.

It's used to paint the inside of water towers.

I covers outstanding and fills the weave of Roven Woven pretty well with 2 coats. Easy to clean too.

hey wart, i think others have used Tile Clad to do under consoles as well. Would you agree this is a suitable application? I want to brighten things up under mine, and thing a bright white would help a bit. Also, do you have a source for Tile Clad? Thanks.

My bilge. inside consoles & the whole inside of the cuddy is painted with it. Anywhere not in direct sunlight. The UV rays will work on it, as it is a true epoxy.

Local Shurwin Williams paint store.

To answer your question - you will need to sand down to bare fiberglass to ensure good adhesion with any fiberglass resin (epoxy or poly). I used white Bilgekote in my bilge with good results - I liked it because all I needed was a quart or two and did not have to spend the $$$ on a gallon of paint. Saved that $$ for fuel.. :D
