A&J Bracket?

Anyone used an A&J Flotation Bracket on a 23' seacraft for a single engine? Again, the cost is nearly half that of an armstrong bracket of the same size.

Um... didn't someone just start a similar thread called "D&D Brackets"?

The consensus seems to be that a fiberglass bracket from Hermco is the way to go.

Shrimper - I'm a cheap bastard too . . . there's nothing wrong with buying an aluminum bracket. I'm so cheap . . . I decided to build my own . . . even though I probably didn't save any money doing that. If you want to save some dough . . . why not look for a good used bracket? The reality is that they are just a few aluminum plates cut to size and welded . . . no rocket science. The profit has to cover the overhead . . . Armstrong and Stainless have more overhead costs than Joe Blow welder, which is why they have to charge more . . . I don't think you'll see too much difference in quality. Don't get Analysis Paralysis over the bracket decision . . . Just work a little harded and save your $$$.

My bracket was built by A&J in Miami. It is on an 18SF and has a 36" wide flotation chamber and has a set back of 22". It was made to my specs. It is nicely made and finished. My first choice was a Hermco but it was more than twice the $$. The aluminum will require more maintenance than a Hermco.

I had one on my sceptre. It was built to my specs. It seemed to be built good however the powder coating on it sucked.

On my 21 which is really a 22 I used one and I like it, you know the 23 was splashed off this 21,cut down & modified.

???? Explain please. I thought when I last pulled the tape it was 21 feet exactly. Or are you now counting the bracket.
