thru hull in side, how thick?
 

changed baitwell system around recently for better ride. got a portable 30 gallon tank now riding in front of the console. i want to drill a thru hull for drainage through the side of the hull. boat is a 1985 18 ft cc. i am wondering how thick the sides are. hole will be above waterline towards the front of the console. i am not a seacraft purist. i bought the boat for the ride and have been making modifications ever since. just want to "call before i dig".

They should be the same diameter as your new 30 gallon tank drain hole is. Don’t reduce it. You should have 3 holes one to fill the tank one for overflow and one for end of day draining.

baitwell has all the holes already, i want to cut a hole in the side of the boat for easy drainage and am wondering how thick the actual hull is under the gunnel.

On my 23' it's .385" thick. This is six inches down from the rub rail when I installed a second/backup bilge pump.

im assuming you came up through the bilge? im talking about going all the way through both walls and whatever is in between. cannot get a hose up from the bilge that far. tank is blocking it and i dont want to run through the console, which is filled w/ batteries etc.

Oh.....you meant the through the hull and the inner liner of the boat. I'm thinking around 1" to 1 1/2", no more.
