how to winterize OB

i have a 1989 Johnson VRO. What do I have to do to get it ready for winter. the tank is half full. i plan on letting the engine run out.
Thanks

letting an engine run out of fuel, before allowing it to sit for an extended period of time,is never a good idea.
a better approach is to run the engine on a "winterize mix",me,i use 5g of fuel,a gallon of oil and a shot of stabil - i run the engine to temp - perform a compression test, service the gear case, pull the wheel, lube all points, then, disconnect the fuel to the engine-connect my mix tank, and run the engine again, with the salt a way flush connected.allow the engine to run till it begins to smoke, run it to temp again, then increase the idle spped, and kill it with the primer - "choke"...
this, puts a fuel/oil mix in the carbs - fuel evaporates, oil doesn't,the inside of the carbs are sealed in a lite coating of 2 stroke oil - eliminating all potential problems...

should i fill the tank and add stable or is half filled with stable fine if i have a water/fuel separator?

fogging oil

i agree with bushwacker, I run the engine till it warms up and start spraying fogging oil in the carbs till the engine stalls out..then i pull the plugs and spray some more fogging oil on top of the pistons and hand crank the flywheel over one time..never had a stuck piston when i uncovered the boat in the spring, just looks like an airshow is in town when i fire up the engine to clear out the fogging oil. i also use engine cleaner and get as much salt off then spray some cpc on the engine.
