Thru-hull Ducer Rigging
There's an existing Garmin thru-hull ducer cable in the boat now. I wanted to use it to pull the new thru-hull ducer cable forward to the console. But the old cable isn't budging. So do I need to pull the console off and fuel tank out to run the new ducer cable from the bottom of the hull to the console? Seriously?
My boat is a 1978 20' CC, BTW. Thanks, Paul |
I took the metal cable from an old shift cable and was able to snack it under the floor to the back of the boat. If you can find a stiff metal piece of wire get someone to get in the back of the boat while you thread the cable from under the console, have the person in back listen for the cable and he may be able to grab it. It worked for me two times now.

Old control cables' sheath work great with the metal 'cable' part removed. Very flexible and can be bent to help guide them into tough spots.

Here ya go, a cheap solution.....and remember when you pull steering cables, wire, etc. always pull another pull rope with it and then leave in place for the next time.
