The "Spitfire" is a high-voltage ignition system put on OMC hi-performance Cobra sterndrive motors. They were EEPROM controlled computer ignitions and coils that failed spectacularly, repeatedly.
There are several aftermarket replacement systems that can be used to replace the Spitfire with a standard distributor type.

Spitfire

I had an Evinrude spitfire 150 outboard, it ran fantastic. Very dependable and lots of power.
It was on a Full Transom Bracketed Chris Craft Scorpion Cuddy with Hardtop. I think it was also marketed as a Johnson Interceptor.
