fixing glass damage - plugging vents

this is a carry over from the repair I have to make to the side of my SC23.....

So now that I cant use the boat for while (motor was stolen :x ) its good time to get the jet ski damage fixed. I might sell the boat, but in any case I need to fix this now.

Beveled back the hole, filled with some epoxy putty before layering in a few layers of 6 oz cloth. Sand the cloth, add first pass of quick fair

I would give them to you, if i had them :)

Vents were already closed in when I bought the hull, but the previous guy did not do a good job and the patch popped out when the jetskit hit the boat. Previous guys just put a little matt over the hole with some foam core backing!

forgot to update. Its pretty well fixed, for now.

Sanded quickfair with 80/100 grit

rolled on a few coats of System Three highbuild epoxy primer. Started with 2 coats over the patch, then two more working out. Sand primer with 220

rolled and tipped first coat of sterling paint. Not really concerned with runs or sags at this paint, just trying to get some coverage.

Let first coat set up over night, sanded sags/lines out with 320 grit. Rolled and tipped a second coat.

It is not 100% though, I now have a bout 4 coats on the repair area and it shows that my coverage on the rest of the hull is thin (if you look hard at it). The repair area looks better that the rest of the side. So now, I have to put one continuous coat on the whole port side :o that might have to wait until I get a new motor though.
