I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this but my friend though different. What length shaft motor if right for this setup? Its a 1981 (CSY) with a closed in transom and an Armstrong bracket.
I would also like to know approx measurements for the best fit in a console. Mainly how wide and how tall. Thanks for the help in advance....Brian

pretty sure the answer is 25' ... the Hermco brackets are built for a 25' see link

Thanks for the welcome. I'm happy I finally have a reason to join.
25 inch sounds right to me also.
I plan on going with an older 2 stroke to keep the cost down until I get everything how I want it...This is my first project and I'll be paying people to do what I'm not qualified to do.....

Go with a 30' if you have room to move it to the top holes. Motors on brackets get pretty wet back there past the apex and the extra length will help keep her dry.

Thanks Rod, A lot had already been done but there is still a long way to go. I will post pictures on any improvements.
The guy who owned it was trying to turn it into a side console with some sort of storage/cuddy thing. That will be cut out to return it to a center console open fisherman. I will be looking for a local fiberglass guy to tackle that.
Happy to be a part of this community. I have a lot to learn.

Thanks Kmoose,...I'll look into that as well.

Was this boat originally a 23' Sceptre (Cutty cabin)??

I don't think so because I see hatches below the part that was covered, like it was open before. Also it was mabe by CSY. Did they make the Sceptre or just the CC 23 and 27?
When I get home I'll look a little closer and try to give a definite answer on that....
