A few questions

Hello all it's been a while that I've posted anything and have a few questions. I have a project boat to do with my son. It's a 1972 206 CC. I've had the boat for 3 years now and have it completely striped down ready for the nasty work. I'm freeing up some time these days and want to remove the entire deck and transom. I want to raise the deck to make it self bail also want to raise the transom to accommodate the newer 25" shaft motors. Is 4 inches enough to raise the deck to install scuppers ? Also is 5 inches the amount needed to raise the transom, it's my understanding they ran motors with a 20 inch shaft back in the day. Thanks in advance.

Raise deck 2 inches
Raise transom 5 inches

Case closed !

Good luck, have fun...;)

2" will probably be fine if you are powering with 140 HP or less 4 S or 150 HP or less 2 S. The 20' boats were designed for 75-115 HP 2 S's - they do fine with a 115. What motor are you planning to hang on it and what do you use the boat for? What is your typical load and your typical daily run?

We need to develop a check off list like -
I. Boat length (please check one) -
1) 15' Scampi
2) 19' Bowrider
3) 20' CC
4) 20' Seafari
5) 23 CC
6) 23 Sceptre/Tsunami
7) 25 SeaFari
8) 27 Seamaster
9) 27 Raceboat
II. Power (please check one)
1) 75- 90 hp 2S / 4S
2) 100-115 hp 2S / 4S
3) 130-150 hp 2S / 4S
4) 150-225 hp 2S
5) 150 - 200 hp 4S
6) 225 - 300 hp 2S
7) 225 - 300 hp 4S
8) Twins - please specify________
9) 240 Bridgeport
10) Rolls-Merlin Go-Devil
11) Quad Bearcats
III. Typical Load / Windage -
1) Tee Top
2) Tee top with electronics box
3) Hardtop
4) Tower
5) Bikini tops - yes / no
6) Fishing gear
7) Dive gear
8) Beer (rounded off to the nearest case)
9) Persons(*) on board
(*) including mother-in-laws
IV. Boat use -
1) Fishing
2) Diving
3) Cocktail cruiser
4) Camping / Cruising
5) Racing
6) Sandbar Party Classic Chick Magnet
7) Tax write off through shell company (i.e. "Trolling Gear Research,

Do yourself a favor and raise the transom to 27 inches. 25" shaft will still fit. Wish I made mine that height. If for some reason when you hang the motor you find its two high just trim it down. My suzuki140 is as high as I can get it and it could probably go up another hole if I had the room to do it.
