Boondoggle build 75 inboard
 

Well after may years Admiring seacraft boats I finally bought one two years ago. After many years I’m looking at them I found one down in Virginia Beach. My friend Bobby and I made a weekend trip down to Virginia Beach to look at the boat. It came with a mercruiser 454 and hurts transmission. Driving home in New Jersey the front hinges on the console ripped out in the center console was flopping around tied it down and made the rest the ride home. The first couple repairs in the first month were rewiring the boat fixing the consolel and record in the back hatch. Use the boat for about four trips and then found the gas tanks we are leaking. Pull the gas tanks out and was about to do the transom and then one thing led to another then Covid started last year. Decided to pull the whole boat apart and rebuild it. The transom and scupper blocks were mulch and the floor had a soft spot.

The next few pic are getting the core cut out. The core material I’m using is divinycell foam. 3/8’’ for the floor, transom 1 1/2’’ the glass I’m using 1.5 oz csm with 22oz triaxial

This is 1’’ and 1/2’’ divinycell with 1.5 oz csm glued together and is set in with core bond. I had to frame the outside of the transom to keep it straight i used the scupper holes to hold the bottom in. Inside the boat used 2x4s to push/ hold the core in place.

Wow, thats a rebuild! Im curious as to who you bought this boat from as I thought I knew most of the local boats, especially inboards. Now Im wondering if it isnt a sister of mine from the Police force? Keep the photos coming!

How difficult was it getting that liner separated from the hull and out in one piece? I could see that being a challenge, especially if it were bonded together well around the perimeter.

Attachment 23525It was kind of tough to get out. I used wedges that were 3 to 5 feet long and were 6’’ tall. I spend a few day looking at every seacraft inboard model they made. I found this one build and looked at were the potter putty was. You can see the bow of the boat was cut. I had to send the wedge down the bow to separate the two. Also there was putty between the well and keel which my well got broken but i fixed that.

The name of the boat was THE JORDAN LEE It was owned by John Stommel. He lived off Indian river road and owned a flooring company. He said the 454 has about 600 hours on so on it and he had it installed in 1993 which i do have the receipt. In was mostly kept in a barn it whole life. But that is what I’m told so i can only take it with a grain of salt unless you know more.
