Re: Master Angler Help

Just went out to the scrap heap and I'm mistaken. The plywood strip is glassed into the sole and side piece and the whole mess was bonded to the hull with resin chopped glass mix. This is what...

Re: are the 20'master angler more desirable?

Does anyone out there actually use the transom live well on a 20 MA? Mine is really stern heavy just with a 140 Suzuki. How much water do you put in them?

Re: Master Angler Help

I believe all MA's from the 70's anyway had the carpet. Mine does. The lip below the carpet which is like a baseboard in a house makes redecking these boats a little different. Mine separated from...

Re: Whats everyone got for winter projects?

New floors in a 76 Master Angler. Have half of old floor out and am working on getting as much info from this and other sites so that when the weather breaks in spring I'll be ready to jump in with...

Re: Deck to stringers conection

Don I'd like to take you up on your offer to see your boat. I spent more time monkeying around in mine today. So far the foam in mine seems pretty dry except for where the stringer is cut to...

Re: Deck to stringers conection

Hopefuly I can inspect the stringers tomorrow. The foam between the stringers is wet but only down about 1/4 ". I can't imagine the foam inside the stringers is totaly dry because with a four...

Re: Deck to stringers conection

I didn't think it whould be neat or easy. Is it necessary? Could a satisfactory deck be laid over this base? I may decide to open up and re foam fill the stringers in which case it is not an issue.

Deck to stringers conection

When I removed the deck from my 76 MA I found that the floor was two layers of glass with plywood squares in between. This was attached to the stringers on top of about a 2" thick layer of some type...

Re: 20 foot Master Angler floor repairs-rebuild

RC I ripped out about half my deck today and you are correct about the plywood-squares about 5". For the most part they a saturated with water. In most areas they are not very well bonded to...

Re: 140 suzuki on 20 MA

Opened up about half of my deck today. Sure is a lot of water in the deck plywood. The wood, though soaked, doesn't seem rotten, just delaminated and not sticking very well to the glass. The foam...

Re: 20 foot Master Angler floor repairs-rebuild

RC I've seen the plywood squares used by several people on this site but have never seen an older deck made of them completely. My deck seems to be sheet plywood but maybe the 2" holes I drilled...

20 foot Master Angler floor repairs-rebuild

I began with some exploratory holes in the deck in suspect areas and was suprised to find plywood core with glass over and under. I thought all of these boats used end grain balsa core? Boat is a...

Re: 20SF Wiring Redo

That looks more like my console! It was done by Kerneltugboat. He's an engineer - I'm not. On the other hand it has woked well for four years now so can't complain.

Re: 140 suzuki on 20 MA

I'm glad to see those numbers from Trayder's boat. Pretty much the same. If I wreck my prop I'll get a stainless one as I saw a performance increase on my previous Seacraft with one. That was a...

Re: 140 suzuki on 20 MA

The top had to come off anyway because of the deck. Considering how much it moved around it sure was a bear to break free of the deck. I had to use two log splitting wedges and a sledge hammer. ...

Re: 140 suzuki on 20 MA

I removed the T-top today and ran the boat on a lake. Very calm. My GPS antenna is on the T-top so I had to use a hand held. Just hit 37mph, about 32 knots. I am kind of suprised that there is no...

Re: 140 suzuki on 20 MA

The top is going to have to come off soon anyway as the deck is getting pretty bad and I have to do something about it. You can feel the floor moving on port side when running in a sea. I think the...

Re: 140 suzuki on 20 MA

I whouldn't consider lowering the motor as it sits so low now I worry about it being underwater so much. The bracket on the engine is currently about 1" or a bit more above the transom. I will...

140 suzuki on 20 MA

I am running a 140 zuke on a 20 Master Angler and though I love the economy and reliability my top end is only 32 knots. This is plenty fast for my needs as you can seldom open up a 20 footer...

I live in the Worcester area and have heard bad things about Doug Russel more than once. I,ve never dealt with them so this is just hearsay. Get it in writing!
