Re: looking for 18-20 cc
I've an 18' 1976 recently redone, with a 2001 HPDI 150, 30 hrs on it, still under warranty. Boat needs deckwork, some detail and some finishing. I'm not going to finish. I'm moving up to a family...

Re: Splashed This Weekend!
The boat is a 1976 Potter hull. The T-top came with the boat and was custom made by the previous owner. My friends named the boat because I never had any seats -- it was /is for fishing and...

Re: Splashed This Weekend!
Ayup -- 5500 is the ideal goal. Was surprised when it only spun up to 4900 without trimming -- then up to 5100 before ventilating a bit too much. Want to be careful -- I like the prop's cruise...

Splashed This Weekend!
After almost 3 years, 1 child, and too many delays to count, my SeaCraft 18 went into the water for the first time.
This has taken me 2 years longer than I wanted, but small items - like work,...

Re: A question on Gel Coat Cracks
When you dremel the crack a bit, if the glass underneath is 'white' rather than the dark amber, a good chance the glass itself is cracked. If you just fill in the gelcoat, the cracks will comeback...

Re: A question on Gel Coat Cracks
My 18 had cracks on the back portion/top where the stern boxes met the sides. The Fiberglass was broken -- so ground our and reglassed -- it is stronger than it ever was. Other parts were from the...

Re: Why would I be taking on water?
If you have a drain fitting for the bow compartment right at the waterline, that fitting can leak. It is a bronze threaded tube (thru-hull) that is snugged up against the inner liner of the bow...

Re: Cooler chocks
Short of putting an access plate, you will have to screw in any replacement. Because your old chocks pulled out, I'm going to guess you may have some rot in the wood. Drill out and replace with...

Re: Are these inherent problems 18' footer
I have a 1976 18' SeaCraft -- and it has the same issue. When I first bought the boat, I spoke with an old dealer. Seems the early 18' had a deck that was about 2-3" below the waterline. So -- ANY...

Re: Seacraft boat size
Probably 20 and 23 had the most hulls built. I know there weren't many 18s ever sold/built (would love to know the actual figure). I've also been told -- and having an 18' believe -- that folks...

Re: 18' CC trailer?
You can easily adjust the rollers and bunks on any trailer. My cross bar in the stern has a slight "V" to it, and rollers all up the middle that you can adjust up or down 3-4". I have bunks on...

Re: 18' CC trailer?
I have a continental galvanized single axle, about the biggest (I think) they make in two wheel. Think it is good up to 5,000 lbs. the 18 hull is about 1600 lbs, engine call it 400-500 lbs, gas (48...

I'm with State Farm and they went by blue-book on my original unrestored boat. Now, they require a Marine Survey to be submitted, which I will get before the boat hits the water. Only way for them...

I went with the TACO stainless rub rail. It "may" bend after a sharp impact, but I don't want to the be the one driving the boat if/when that happens images/icons/shocked.gif . Actually, I'm...

Re: Thru hull scuppers ... How did ya fix em
For mine, I used an oversized holesaw after clearing out the old. I used thinned epoxy in the hole to seal the edges. I then had patches of biaxial glass I soaked in epoxy, then placed them in the...

Rich -- just mounted a 150 HPDI about 475 lbs - very similar to your size/weight. I rebuilt and raised the transom, and used an engine hoist I have to life the engine by its lift rings. Then...

Re: RUB RAIL REPLACEMENT
Definitely go with the Taco stainless. Use a heat gun to form the hard vinyl, but DO NOT overheat or you'll be adding a lot of joints to your rail or buying new vinyl. Be patient.
I have a 1976...

Use West Marine Epoxy, slow cure hardener. Mix in Cabosil (West Marine Colloidial Silica) or WM structural filler (?microfiber?) and mix until a paste consistency. Don't add too much. Add in WM...
