What are my 30 year old outboards worth???

Thinking about selling the 81 merc's and putting the money towards a single 30" shaft efi. Anyone have any idea what a pair of running 225's are worth?

Re: I'm at the tip of the iceberg

That was my ride...I'll never sell her. The guy who owns the lot is a good egg, lets me park it there for cheap. I've been parking my boats there for decades.

Re: I'm at the tip of the iceberg

A single 225 with a floatation bracket will most likely be pretty level, I doubt mine squats more than 4" and I'm running twins. I have to plug the splashwell drains because they're under about an...

After four years of trying to get down there (OBX) the weather finally cooperated and we hit the motherload, I ended up catching...

Re: Fuel Mileage

I had a 23' pennyan with a single 305 and got about 3 mpg at cruise, very heavy boat for a 23 footer. Mileage was about that if I could stay below 34 or 3500 rpms after that the four barrel kicked in...

Re: Thru hull fittings / Scuppers

Re: 18 year olds first Seacraft

Almost as bad as some of the trailering nightmares I've had over the years, hopefully your first and last. I remember a time when I was about your age when we got a boat home 150 miles with a 3"...

Re: Kicker hp for 23

I have an early 90's 9.9 2 stroke on mine and it does OK on Erie until the waves get over 3' then I'm forced to troll with it or in the ditch. For a backup I doubt you can make much headway going...

Re: Question About Possible Purchase

BEWARE...I'd imagine there are more than a few guys that frequent this site that would surrender the left portion of a precious part of their anatomy to find out where the boat is located

Re: Mercury 300 on a 23

Re: Mercury 300 on a 23

The 350 verado is from merc's racing division, each unit is hand assembled and costs mucho $$$ compared to the 225 - 300 hp versions. Looking at about 30% more for 50 extra ponies. Probably would be...

Re: Tow Vehicle Preferences for more than 5K lbs

I'm partial to Fords and have an F350 with the 7.3 powerstroke, I get 15 mpg pulling my 23cc and 20 when I'm not towing. I got the 1 ton because the price was right but a 3/4 will serve you well. If...
