Re: Seacraft sinks off Martha's Vineyard

The 20" transom on my boat is the one thing that scares the hell out of me. Routinely takes water and runs onto the deck and my 18 only has scuppers out the motor well. Mine will also runs water...

Scabbing a transom to raise to 25\"

Anyone done it. My transom has been replaced previously and is rock solid. Anyone scabbing in a dutchman to raise it and how much bracing into the coring did you go. I think my old johnson has had...

Re: 1978 18' Seacraft

I bought my 1979 18 about 2 years ago. It is on an aluminum trailer and has a 1994 175 Johnson. Color bottom machine, transom and fuel tank had been replaced in mid to late 90s. I paid 4700.

Re: possible purchase - 1989 18' Few questions.

I have a 175 Johnson on my 18. It is a 20" shaft. It gets scary with following seas. May not have this engine much longer. Have a cylinder with low compression, but I have 5 more to get me where...

Re: 18SF Restoration - Advice on top paint and details

I cut the back out of my livewell also. Best bilge access ever. Unfortunatly, I did it after I spent 6 hours changing a bilge pump thorough that little rectangle hole in the motor well! It would...

Re: 18 with a 90?

The top end with a load for fishing won't be anymore than a light boat with a 100 hp. I have a 175 on my 18 and with a fishing load and calm seas I run 33 knots. Family load with an innertube I run...

18 Fish Box Drain

I don't like the fish box, but the cooler is just too big and takes up too much room, so.....I need some pix of the overboard drain. Mine has been glassed over. Were they horrible about filling up...

Re: Sea Star Power steering, no room on the '70 CC

I can't imagine a 20 having any smaller well than my 18 and I have hydraulic steering. It pinches the hoses a little in a hard turn, but otherwise fine.

Re: Free 1968 Moesly Seacraft with trailer

I could have picked this up when I was in Jupiter last week. Oh well, my wife would have killed me anyway.

Re: Trailer for 18' seacraft

i have that magic trail trailer for my 18. it is great, but in my opinion it needs a stronger axle as it is hell on the inside of the tires

Re: Anyone near Jupiter

Thanks for the responses. The reality of trying to pull the 650 trailer trip is hitting home. It will take an extra 3 tanks of gas in the truck, nowhere cheap to keep/launch the boat, and the...

Anyone near Jupiter

Coming to the MIL and bringing the 18 down in July. I have only fished once down there and that was 7 or 8 years ago. I remember it being slick everytime we visit in the summer so I am very excited...

Re: Getting Rid of Water on Deck of 18

I made a short splash board and hinged it to allow it to lay flat on the deck. I let the extreme ends open to allow the deck to drain out. I am thinking I made a mistake in not putting it flush to...

Getting Rid of Water on Deck of 18

Ok. I know I am not the only obsessive person about this. I have sealed all the hatches and splash well and replaced the splash well board (has cutouts to get water to the splashwell and eventually...

Re: Fuel tank compartment

my 1979 18 doesn't have drains. I used a small 1/8 tube and a shop vac. It took a while to empty the coffin with the tank in it.

Re: Overall range of Seacraft 18

we used to fish at 1 mpg on 1980s motors. It was very common for everyone to haul a drum on deck for a weekend of fishing. I still have a friend that has a 31 fountain and they typically haul at...

Overall range of Seacraft 18

I have an 18 with a 175 looper. I have a 47 gallon tank with a usable amount of about 42 gallons that is based on pumping the tank empty through the bulb. I try to keep a full tank and have not yet...

Re: 18SF rebuild

The strings on mine don't go all the way to the stern and do not appear to have been cut off because the foam is puddled in the bottom of the hull at the end of the stringers.
