I had an 86 with a 225 Opti on it (no t-top) and it would run 54-58 mph. Best part was the 40 mph cruise at 4000 rpm.

I think you will be happy with the 140. I had an '86 with a Suzuki 150. I think it topped out at 45. Around that time some had posted with a 140 as well and got similar #'s.

I had an '86 20' with a 225 Optimax and it was a 54mph boat. I saw 56 a few times, but never more. Based on that, id say you're in line.

I had a 2005 23' SC with a 250 Verado and the boat sat fine. The verado is quite a bit heavier than the Suzuki so you should be fine.
