boat speed?

1965 19' bow rider with 140 mercruiser is going 29-30 mph @ 3500 rpm's. is this what to expect out of this boat or can i do somthing to make it faster?

mercruiser alpha 1 drive

I have gen 2 for sale. It was not used much and still has the paint on the prop. I can give the serial # if needed.

Thank you for your reply. I guess i need to by a repair manual so i can fix. I run in salt water so hopefully i caught it early enough.

gear oil leaking

wondered if any one knew why gear oil would leak from a small hole on the lower unit. I think i have "R" drive.
