Tabbing/glassing deck to inner liner - ideas?

Curious to know how folks have approached this - I've just installed a new deck and am preparing to reglass it to the inner liner on my 20 SF. I've ground down the gelcoat on the liner where it...

Re: Question about boat age & original serial number

Thanks, that definitely helps narrow it down some. Just out of curiosity, what is your serial #?

Question about boat age & original serial number

Thought I'd run a question up the mast and see if anyone on the forum has any ideas - I'm trying to get a sense of how old my 20 I/O is - the serial number on the original foil sticker that is...

Respiratory protection while spraying

There are a few posts showing members (and some professional boat restorers) spraying their hulls with standard face masks with various cartridges (for organic vapors, presumably) Given that...

Re: Downsize?

Your 23 I/O has got to be one of the nicest boats I've seen. My $.02 is that the extra weight/freeboard/length are HUGE assets over the 20 (I own a 20 SF I/O and tow w. a 4Runner w. no problems.) ...

Re: plastic fuel tank source

Dan, If that tank is still available, I'd like to purchase it. I'm on the south shore (MA) and actually went right by your house yesterday to fish Chatham....

Re: redoing deck in 20cc

Muddy,
I have the same setup - raised flange molded into the deck, horizontal screws to join the console to the flange. I am removing most of the deck and building in a 6' hatch for the fuel tank,...

Re: New console build

Wart/Scott: thanks for the kind words. I hear ya' 2" thick on the console face would be overkill!

Problem is that the teleflex bracket forces you to drill the mounting holes within one bolt...

Re: New console build

That one was the prototype, you don't really want it.....

Of course, I have some electrical work that needs attention.

New console build

Subject: New Console Buildup

Scrapped the tired stock console this past spring on the 20SF I/O, decided to start a full restoration, but this was the first project I had time to finish. Basic...

Re: testing pics of project

Want2Fish,
Boat looks great, you've made some serious progress. Popping that liner off the I/O is no small feat!

I have the exact same hull, 20SF I/O and I'm doing some of the same mods/repairs....

1973 20SF fuel tank deck mod.

Anyone have any suggestions regarding cutting the deck, building a new fuel tank cover for a circa 1973 20SF? My '73 20SF I/O has the raised deck flange that the console screwed into, and it's gotta...

Re: hull to cap joint and 5200

Will,

I just did that "fix" this weekend - applied a generous bead of 5200 between the hull to cap joint. After a good hit on a pier last year, the hull had broken away from the cap joint on my...

Re: SF20 I/0

I ended up picking up Blizzard's 20SF I/O last year. Since then, I've done a good amount of work to it, will finally be posting pics of the transom work, new console, scuppers, and full re-wire...

Re: center console wanted

The console was in tough shape guys. Ultimately decided to trash it, dash face was a mess, cracked and in need of full replacement.

Re: center console wanted

I have a console from my 1972 SF, it's potter, but stock, so it may be too low for you...
It's yours if you want it, located in MA, south shore.

Re: prop size

Will,
Those are higher than mine, but I am using a 4-blade prop, which I believe is too much for that engine. I will likely try the 14x19 three-blade this spring, but the new console and re-wiring...

Re: Where are the 19-20 ft Center Console I/O

I've got one, Blizzard's former boat. 1973 w. a newer Mercruiser 140, new console this spring, new electrical upgrades this weekend. I love that model, great lines, and miserly on gas, which ain't...

Re: prop size

Keith,
Your welcome, sorry to hear about your brother, but that is a fitting tribute.

good luck w. the propping - it is a bit of a trial and error proposition getting it right.

Re: plug lining

Warthog,

Thanks for jarring my thick skull - the fix idea came from your excellent rebuild photos. Grey pvc is what I used also. Cabosiled and faired.

Re: plug lining

I have to respectfully disagree with the conventional wisdom on the use of those thin brass tubes for scupper drains. I've seen a bunch that are rotted out, including those on my boat. Brass just...

Re: prop size

Will,

I'm one of the few that still have a 20 SF with a Mercruiser 140 I/O on this board. I run a 4 blade 19, which I think is also a bit much, although some recommend that prop. as a good...

Re: jumping in

That is one of the nicest looking boats on this site, IMHO.
But I'm partial to the I/O models. Looks like the photos were shot during "magic hour", dusk or dawn.

I'm ticking off projects at...
