no real obvious flexing so to speak, I can lift and push on the lower unit and you can see maybe a tiny amount of give but not a lot. Really you can just see where the plates are slightly arced at the top. It just seems to me that if the top holes arent bolted to anything that the middle set of bolts (the top transom holes) would be under more stress and possibly over loading them with torque.
