Default 1979 master angler 20 with 2000 hpdi 200

I bought this boat with the set up listed. It has lift brackets on it to accomodate the 25" shaft, however, I just don't like the way that that top bolts on the plates are not bolted to the transom and there appears to be a little flexing goin on in that area of the plates. I wanted to try and find something (bracket, stringer etc.) to span the the width of the well and bolt into the top holes on the brackets and motor to reduce any transom strain. Can anyone give some advice?

I still have the aluminum plate that was used to raise my MA Transom up 5". You might consider having a welder cusomize it for your liking. However if there is some flex in the transom with the jack plate setup now . . . your transom might be on it's way out. How much flex are you seeing?

no real obvious flexing so to speak, I can lift and push on the lower unit and you can see maybe a tiny amount of give but not a lot. Really you can just see where the plates are slightly arced at the top. It just seems to me that if the top holes arent bolted to anything that the middle set of bolts (the top transom holes) would be under more stress and possibly over loading them with torque.
