Chance, the tanks are 10 years old (I had them made) and look remarkably good. However, some of the original coating (not sure what it was) has failed and want to get them right before they go back in the boat.

look at aluminum - it's clean shiny yes ?
the coating failed,due to poor prep
remember that whole.scuff sand,clean,chemically etch prime ? if those steps were followed,that coating wouldn't have failed
aluminum needs to be chemically etch primed,before anything is applied to it - fail to follow that.your coating will fail...
