Eric, bilge water happens and getting it all out on our boats can be a challenge if you have the center stringer. The first person who rebuilt my boat added a pass through hole but it was less than effective most of the time as it always was clogged up. The solution other than what you have done by adding a pump on that side is about all you can do unless you drill for a second drain in the back. You can always go like I did and remove the stringer but there is a substantial amount of glass work that needs to done and I am sure access for you is limited which always make fixing things like this tough. Any mod you do either by adding a pass through or removal will be ugly. If the water concerns you I would opt to install a second drain plug for that side as that would be the less intrusive.
