Default Suggestions for seastar helm?

Getting boat ready for splash! Yeah!

Chasing steering issues. I have replaced the seals on the ram to find out ram was shot. Then replaced ram & have now discovered helm is bad. I see they sell gasket/seal kits, is this something the average Ryan can do? I also see that one of my lines under the helm has a little swelling, so I've got a buddy that can make me (free) new lines vs. buying premade/premeasured from teleflex.

Thanks in advance!

I also have seen the kits but did not have to do mine although I did have to replace the hoses. I bought the pre cut from the factory ones but FREE is good tell you friend you will make it up to him on some free fishing trips.

I tried to rebuild the helm unit one time with no luck.
Without a test bench it is (in my opinion) impossible.
There are a multitude of springs, seals and adjustments
inside the unit.
Ended up sending to a repair facility in Jacksonville, FL.
for about $200, live and learn!

The ram seals are a cake walk compared to the helm.

Thanks guys! I'm kinda leaning toward replacement. Think I found a tilt helm on CL for 2 bills!

As far as taking care of my buddy, I gave him some of this one last month.
